labored over this for quite sometime- a weeks worth of hours nearly...some of it is records through a mixer, some of it is ableton renderings, and some of it is some sloppy traktor (only a mouse and no cue) If there was anybody reading this, they'd recognize it incorporates some mixes from earlier posts. Time to use your money back guarantee, I suppose ten minutes of a Zeke show 09.29.99 @ chain reaction. not giving a fuck and rocking out for broke. You think you know what rock and roll is? Fuck what you know. Rock and roll jumps out of a pickup truck and beats your ass...I have this whole show if you are interested.
a track each off of these LPs...chinese cha cha by alfredito and virgenes del sol by sumac...the latin spectacular disc is otherwise just ok. the rest of the songs on fuego have actual lyrics, slower tempos and didn't appeal to me, but this is fairly good. is "taki rari" sumac's finest moment? From what I've heard the answer is yes, but suggestions are welcome.
decided to trust the admirable strut label to school me on the italo. a little bit goes a long ways for me- too long as a matter of fact- the comp didn't really turn me out any. except the firefly track which is about as good as say, a solid p&p cut. The build up from 3:45 is prime time floor filler
Most dedications are added to the start- but now that the rain and the sky and a room full of dirt have all been turned upside down together, you and i can do nothing but forget one another...All of this uselessness is dedicated to the last two women who went searching through the pockets of your corpse, a pair of sexed up lottery addicts who were complete strangers, both to us and one another
ROOFTOP RIDICULE YAYO'S TACOS 050710 delay guitar over a groove; experimental indie outfit (Recording quality C+ little muddy and distorted)
the following track comes from someone else ripping a cassette tape... "SILVER BULLETS" is the name of the musical group. the tape was released in 2009 was limited to 100 but the rip of the whole album shouldn't be too hard to find. it's an enjoyable set of songs...all instrumentals that each manages to successfully cop a different sound from different tradition in global freakout...the track I'm posting here, Il Punto, is a simple guitar riff driven trancer in the vein of some of the more monolithic loop/spaceman 3 material - a formula which never gets dated and could use a lot more practitioners
ONE LESS ZERO DOUBLE DOWN 050710 psychobillyish rock with punk drums and woman vocal Recording quality C
HOSANNAHS BEAUTY BAR 060310 jeff tweedyish vocal, expansive guitar tones, driving tribal drum breakdowns Recording quality B
BRIGHTMILLION BEAUTY BAR 050710 upbeat indie guitar and drums duo with backing tracks Recording quality B
The redhead could only truly be seen from across the room- by affection I meant crime and by beauty I meant a single visit to a foreign land. She was a little bit of both, but in the end, neither. Like the endless line of sleepwalkers who had gone before, she tied a rope around the neck of imagination and kicked it from the balcony. Do you think that rings a little false? Once you identify with your own solitude, you can stop making excuses for others. In the end, I asked the redhead for her name and told her that friendship was the opposite of vanity, although neither of us believed it. Everytime another person reads this ridiculous page, I make another enemy.

MIX #10
ripped pause tape from 2000
pulled this out of a hatrack the other day...a bunch or records that were new to me in 2000, all across a variety of styles...it's aged fairly well. I can still listen to it straight through without hitting the fast forward button...I got my first mixer in the middle of it so there's a little delay play in the drum and bass section. i was tempted to revise this with some overlaps in ableton ( especially between the first two tracks) but its not worth the time. THIS IS FROM A CASSETTE so the sound quality is fairly well shite. i still have most of these tracks if you get obsessed by any of it and want a rip

dieselboy @ forbes was a pretty big success. a nice sized crowd stayed late into wed night and the vibe of the club, as always, was relaxed and friendly. the drying up of drum and bass forced dieselboy to play the most interesting set I've ever heard from him (and Ive heard a dozen or more). he's given up uninterrupted, monotonous noisy, clattery high hats for detours into electro and dubstep flavors...the tune he opened with was massive. looks like there's a thursday night party called "human experience" @ forbes that is trying to feature DIY culture, whatever the flavor...in the same vein, there was a flyer for "lighting in a bottle" on my car the other day. it's interesting to see how events are trying to avoid appealing to a rigid niche, subculture or scene. i'm tempted to theorize on why that might be the case, but i'm sure it would sound stupid
BIG JESUS DOUBLE DOWN 040710 some birthday party influences (Recording quality A)
YEAR OF THE DRAGON DOUBLE DOWN 040910 (fishbone alumni...metal riffs and heavy rhythm Recording quality B)
if it wasn't for the end of the world, people would be unable to fall in love- though both are illusions. After the bullfighter gored an obese tourist, yard long margaritas went on sale...the hourglass was turned upside down...the wind began to blow. I thought as if I might be able to come up with another sleight of hand or two even though my social security number had been towed...my wife and kids repossessed...That's not the end of the world, several people said...And even though they are right, I'm the only one who really knows the end of the world -others shouldn't presume to say...
The nice thing about bullfighters is that they always reflect the sun....
The disc above= Jackie Wilson: Soul Galore!!!---there are some party rockers on this...another record I'm trying to sell $10 and a bargain!...the second track is better than the first:
Dead as the dog you ran over on the way to murder a seagull. An accursed seagull that trotted across your desk with ink on its claws. The both of you bore false witness to seven masks. Seven masks that were a second calender. Which one of these is next, you asked, as if in the corner of an empty room looking into it as hard as you can- Your desperation staring over at the wind from the crack in the floor
THE SCOUNDRELS DIVE BAR 032910 (4 piece stand up bass and rockabilly sympathies...vocal for gwen stefani fans... recording quality A)
COLD BLOODED PERPETRATORS YAYO'S TACOS 032910 (stark, moody three piece with vocals in the jim morrison range Recording quality A-)
TAYLOR LOCKE AND THE ROUGHS BEAUTY BAR 033010 (harder than average pop, with a nice grooving jam at the bridge Recording quality B)
I recorded most all of the live music presented in this blog, in and around Las Vegas NV, and my only criteria for pressing the button was that the band had their own songs and it was cheap to get in. Some of these bands are much better than others, most of them I don't like at all... but you certainly might- since anyone could be reading this, I can't make any presumptions...
The vinyl rips and mixes are more usually things I'd recommend to people. Things that personally amused me.
I myself rarely take the time to comment on things I surf over, but hello is welcome! Of course, this is obviously nothing more than a deranged attempt at wasting time.
